Melinda Roy

Melinda Roy is a queer, neurodivergent writer and photographer, birder, angler, and naturalist. Born and raised in northern British Columbia, she now lives on Vancouver Island on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.

Melinda is a citizen scientist, involved in various bird, bat, and butterfly surveys. She can often be found exploring mudflats and mountains, when she’s not busy with her day job.

Melinda holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Non-Fiction from the University of King’s College. Her work has been published in The Malahat Review, The Ex-Puritan, Filling Station, Untethered, Augur, and Thimbleberry, among others.

Melinda is working on a full-length memoir about her relationship, estrangement, and reconnecting with her father after coming out. She also is Lead Writer for the Plaid Analytics blog.
